Over the past 30 years, I have worked alongside hundreds of local, national and international causes and campaigns to tell their stories. Everything from feature length documentary film to short social media viral segments– it’s about capturing the why and what of your cause and building a connection that results in action.
Non-profits, associations, alliances, movements and educational campaigns are all about the same thing: educate and mobilize action to solve a specific problem or meet a particular need. Your greatest challenge is adequately defining the problem or need and how your unique solution is the right one– then inspiring a desire to collaborate.
But words on a page– and often even photos– seem to fall short. You need to connect your audience on an emotional level with the plight of those you seek to serve. And nothing connects us with the personal struggle of those in need– as well as the passion of those meeting that need– like documentary storytelling.
